Participations of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts
Douras Leonidas , Project title: "Densities" Genre: Audiovisual project
The work is a visual visualization of piece #1 from Iannis Xenakis' Polytopus Persepolis (1971). The translation of I. Xenakis' sound creation into a visual form follows the approach of matching sound structures with abstract visual elements and compositions that evolve over time. The composition "follows" the musical piece by exploring the concept of granular musical composition through visual densities and their movement. At the same time, the composition is part of a space that attempts to approach the sound universe of the piece.
Dimitris Spanos, Project title: “Projections” Genre: Audiovisual project
The work is a visualization of the musical work Metastases (1953-4). The goal is to strike a balance between a free visual translation of the audio piece, while maintaining its primary dynamics. Taking Xenakis's work as a springboard for inspiration, the audiovisual work is influenced both by the parabolic exaggerations and by the note-to-note glides used by the composer in Metastasis. Thus, the correspondence between sound and image is expressed through abstract digital compositions and more specifically through form, color, lighting contrasts and rhythm.
Mihaela Siozis, Project title: "Removal" Genre: Audiovisual project
The work is a visual visualization of the musical work Metastaseis by Iannis Xenakis (1953-4). The transformation of the specific audio excerpt of I. Xenakis into visual forms led to the re-examination of his artistic work in the light and stimuli of the present and is a study of sound forms in an abstract composition. The project's densities, scalings and de-scalings were based on geometric shapes that change in time and space, glorifying Xenakis' transformations.
The artistic creations of the students are the development of projects within the course "Visual Audio Investment (AVA744)" with the teacher responsible Dr. Tania Tsiridou (Member of the Faculty of Education).
